Ms. Wong awarded Cleveland Heritage Medal

On Thursday evening, November 18th, we accompanied Ms. [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] and her family to the Rotunda in Cleveland City Hall where the Cleveland Heritage Medal was bestowed upon her, as the Founder and Managing Partner of [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″], as well as several other most worthy recipients.

As we read on its official website, the Cleveland Heritage Medal is “bestowed upon individuals whose significant contributions through leadership, collaboration and service have left an indelible mark on all spheres if the Cleveland community…Their contributions have created the lasting heritage that makes Cleveland the city it is today.”

In addition to Ms. Wong, those honored at this time were Mr. Richard J. Bogomolny, retired Chair and CEO of First National Supermarkets, Inc. (Finast) ; Ms. Margot James Copeland, retired Chair and CEO of the KeyBank Foundation; and Ms. Beth E. Mooney, retired Chair and CEO of KeyCorp.

Regarding those honored, we read in the program booklet that “their community impact reflects service to other marked by compassion and selflessness. They espouse teamwork as necessary to making a difference in our community, actively encouraging the contributions of others.”

The medals were presented to each recipient by Dr. Akram Boutros, President and CEO of The MetroHealth System and Ms. Trina Evans, Chief of Staff and Director of Corporate Center KeyBank, after Mr. Russ Mitchell, Anchor and Managing Editor at WKYC Studios, read a brief biography noting his/her personal and professional history, philanthropic contributions, and commanding achievements.

Of Ms. Wong, Mr. Mitchell appropriately quoted a magazine article that read that she had “dedicated her career to helping others find the happiness she found in our country…”

The evening ended on a rousing note as Mr. Christopher Gorman, Chair, CEO, and President KeyCorp at KeyBank, announced that, in honor of Ms. Mooney and her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, two one-million-dollar grants would be made to CSU and the Cleveland Clinic.

Later, after we got home, we leafed through the program booklet some more and found that it contained a quote from Ms. [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] that says a lot about her:

“My mother, Kuo Hua Kuan, used to tell my siblings and me, ‘when you drink water, remember where it originated,’ by which she meant, remember where we came from, and remember who helped us get where we are today.”
