Lunar New Year Cleveland Celebration 2022

On Saturday, February 5th, we joined the vibrant Lunar New Year Cleveland celebration at Asia Plaza. This annual event welcomed the Year of the Tiger with music, dance, and cultural traditions that brought the community together in a joyful atmosphere.

Highlights included Ms. Rosa Lee playing the Guzheng, Ms. Janice Liu on the Erhu, and Mr. John Cosma showcasing martial arts skills. Students from the Stellar Acrobatic Dance Academy wowed the crowd with their energy and precision.

Special Guests and Traditions

The celebration featured a surprise visit from Cleveland’s new mayor, Mr. Justin Bibb, who greeted attendees warmly. Of course, no Lunar New Year event would be complete without the traditional lion dance. Performed by the Kwan Family, which delighted guests of all ages.

Throughout the day, we reconnected with old friends, including Mr. John Louie, former owner of Asia Plaza, who has known Ms. [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] for nearly forty years. The sense of community and shared heritage was evident everywhere.

Symbolism and Good Fortune

Among the organizations present was the Cleveland Public Library, represented by Mr. Milos Markovic, Manager of the Downtown International Languages Department. He offered tangerines to visitors. Explaining that they symbolize abundance, happiness, and prosperity—a beautiful tradition that reflects the spirit of Lunar New Year.
