Today we attended the “International Standards Workshop” held at LaMalfa Party Center in Mentor that was organized by the City of Mentor’s International Trade Program to help businesspeople expand their knowledge of the export business and how to certify their products and comply with the requirements for the European CE Mark as well as other country certifications.
The agenda included such topics as European CE Product Safety and Machinery Safety and a Business Overview of China. The speakers included Ken Devore (Process Compliance International), Kim Kirkendall (International Resource Development), Alan Scott (Laicon Machinery Safety Specialists), and Russell Beattie (Assured CE Solutions, LLC).
Even though this event did not concern itself directly with immigration, we still chose to attend it because we wanted to connect with people who someday might, thanks to our international economy, be in the position to know a foreign born person who might be experiencing visa issues, or be associated with a business who might want to help a client or worker immigrate to the U.S.
We also got a real treat when we introduced ourselves to Mr. Pierre M. Van Hauwaert of A Plus B International Business Development Services. Mr. Van Hauwaert, who is from Belgium, told us that Margaret W. Wong had helped him get his green card 25 years ago and that he will always be grateful to her. He was very happy to pose for a photo for our website and said “Hello Margaret!” as we snapped the picture.
