Towards evening on Saturday, October 9th, we drove over to the Islamic Center of Cleveland on West 130th Street where a Community Mental Health and Wellness Fair was taking place.
We spoke to our friends, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Founder of the Cleveland IBN Sina Clinic located on the premises, and Ms. Chitra Walker, Navigator with Medworks which had a table there, who expressed hope that many people would attend and questions about health and healthcare would be asked and answered in a relaxed atmosphere.
As the literature stated, there would be information provided concerning community resources, substance use, maternal and women’s mental health, as well as exercise and nutrition.
In addition to Medworks, there would be tabling by such notable organizations as CareSource, NAMI Cleveland, and Neighborhood Family Practice.
Indeed, we were very happy about Dr. Ahmed’s involvement because we know him from our involvement with the Cleveland American Middle East Organization and respect his humanitarian values.
Unfortunately, we had to leave for dinner before the Wellness Fair started but we swung by again later and were told by Ms. Walker that approximately 100 people attended, and it was very much worth the time the planners put into organizing it.
