Cleveland Interreligious Task Force on Central America and CWRU’s 21st Annual Social Justice Teach-In on Zoom

On Saturday, March 27th, we took part in the Interreligious Task Force on Central America (IRTF) and CWRU’s 21st Annual Social Justice Teach-In conducted via zoom for the very first time.

Ms. Chrissy Stonebraker-Martinez, Co-Director of IRTF, coordinated the gathering which consisted of three panels and at least two breakout sessions exploring the themes of “how I see myself”; “how I see the world”; and “how the world sees me” from perspectives that included race, economic status, gender preference, and spiritual beliefs.

Throughout the various assemblies, the issue of systemic racism was discussed in a very accessible manner and various reading materials were recommended that we plan to check out at local libraries.

We were also quite pleased that the “Stop Asian Hate” rally scheduled to take place the next day in AsiaTown was mentioned several times during the day, and quite a few of the panelists/participants made a point to be there.
