On Wednesday, January 23rd, our first event for the day was an Eastern Lake County/Geneva Chamber of Commerce “Business Buzz,” which took place at Conneaut Savings Bank in Austinburg. The roads were a little slick, but we drove slowly and made it okay.
Among the attendees were several people from the Lake County General Health District including Mr. Tamara Kraft, Associate Health Educator, who told us about a new program that was launched in the Fall of 2018 titled “Parent Cafe” which a press release described as “a safe, informal gathering where parents, parents-to-be, grandparents and other guardians of 0 to six year old children can talk about the challenges, worries, and victories of raising a family…”
Ms. Kraft told us that the Parent Cafes take place in various locales and that child care is provided while the older folks meet. So far, they have proven to be an excellent bridge between the different cultures of the area.
