9th Annual Clambake for the LGBT Center

On Saturday, October 4th, we attended the 9th Annual Clambake for the benefit of the LGBT Center on Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. It was held at the cabin in the Manor Party Center complex in Euclid which was a great place to have it because it was chilly and windy outside and the cabin was snug and warm inside so just the right ambiance was created for this fellowship gathering of 100 plus people. Unfortunately, Ms. Phyllis Harris, Executive Director of the LGBT Center, couldn't make it so our friend Mr. Craig Hoffman was there to fill in. Mr. Hoffman was there with his partner, Pastor Allen Harris of the Franklin Circle Christian Church and we are always glad to see them.

We had a nice visit with Ms. Kathryn Lad who has just retired from the Home Repair Resource Center in Cleveland Heights. Ms. Lad is very proud of her work at the Center whose mission statement is to "empower homeowners to maintain their homes for sustainable and diverse communities." Ms. Lad is going to take a year off and relax before she starts exploring where to re-direct her passions.

We also sat down for a while and talked with two home care nurses Mr. Greg Hemnen and Mr. Gary Katz, who work respectively for the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, about the goings on where they live in Richmond Heights regarding when/how a new mayor will be chosen due to the recall of the former mayor.

Of course it is always a pleasure to see the disc jockey, Ms. Carly Mesnick. We met Ms. Mesnick at the 50's dance at the Westshore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River last May 31st and she remembered us and gave us a hug. Needless to say, Ms. Mesnick brought a good collection of pop and rock songs to play.

As representatives of Margaret W. Wong and Associates, we gave our contact information to a person who had immigrated to the United States from Europe and might need our help later on.

We had to leave before dinner to get back to St. Stanislaus where we were tabling for the Polish Festival but Ms. Charlotte Wells, who was checking everyone in at the door, insisted that we take some food with us. Since we don't eat chicken or clams, we loaded up on corn on the cob, cole slaw and yams and enjoyed a good 10pm snack after we got home.
