Don't Be a Victim of an Immigration Services Scam
We do not want anyone to be a victim of unauthorized practice of immigration law. Immigrants should be careful to make sure their attorney is licensed. We encourage you to view the new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) brochures aimed at combating the Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law. These resources explain where and how to seek authorized immigration assistance.
There has been an increase in immigration services scams and consumer fraud.
The brochures focus on:
Individuals seeking immigration assistance;
Individuals wanting to help someone seeking immigration assistance; and
Organizations seeking to become accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals.
They are now available online and in print. The topics include:
How to Find Help Applying for an Immigration Benefit (Print version: bi-lingual/English and Spanish)
How to Help Someone Applying for an Immigration Benefit (Print version: bi-lingual/English and Spanish)
How to Become an Immigration Service Provider (Print version: bi-lingual/English and Spanish)
Make sure to read them and be diligent when selecting an Immigration Lawyer!
