Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM) Conference in Washington DC
On Monday, June 20th, we were joined at the SHRM conference in Washington, DC by Mr. Francis Fungsang, noted immigration attorney from our office in Cleveland.
We divided our time between answering questions at our table and walking around the large hall networking with other exhibitors.
We were impressed by the considerable number of educational institutions which were tabling there and particularly with the way their representatives slowly nodded their heads and smiled when we asked if many international students took classes there.
Thus we exchanged contact information with such places as American University in Washington, DC; Rutgers Business School in Newark and New Brunswick; Tulane University in New Orleans; the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa; and Central Michigan University.
When we return to Cleveland we plan to look up their International Student administration offices and send letters there.
Speaking of Cleveland, we got nothing but warm handshakes and congratulatory remarks all day regarding the CAVS triumph. A man named Karl told us that he was looking forward to visiting us during the RNC because he would now like to see Cleveland and was curious to see just how the whole convention process works. We agreed with him that it should be interesting.
Along those lines, our morning cab driver (a really sweet guy who immigrated to the United States from Ghana) told us that he was initially rooting for the Golden State Warriors but couldn't help being thrilled when the CAVS pulled it out.
