Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 68th Annual Conference and Exposition

IMG_2250 On Sunday, June 19th, we drove to Washington, D.C. to table on behalf of Margaret W. Wong and Associates at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 68th Annual Conference and Exposition that will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention from the 19th to the 22nd of June.

Upon our arrival we could tell that this conference was bigger and more diversified than the one we attended in Orlando, Florida a short time ago. It seemed that the Orlando conference was concerned mainly with recruitment, recruitment advertising, and security screenings of specific employees. To be sure, there was plenty of that at the D.C. conference too but there were also tables from such firms as the HoneyBaked Ham Company, Nespresso USA, and

It was good to see Mr. Tom Bullock, who we met in Orlando, once more. Mr. Bullock IMG_2252works for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (SGR). As we stood in a line for coffee, we had a good conversation with Ms. Cynthia J.Chaney from Software Techniques, Inc. When Mr. Sanjay Ghanghaw from the Godavari Biorefinery returns to Mumbai, India, he will take with him a copy of Ms. Wong's book, "The Immigrant's Way."IMG_2265

We were also delighted to meet Ms. Susan Dexter (from McDonough's District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois) whose husband, Mr. Bryce Dexter is Ms. Wong's contact at Western Illinois University.

As she passed by our booth, a young woman noticed our banner which said that Ms. Wong is an Ellis Island Award Winner. She talked to us for a moment about how her grandparents immigrated to the United States from Greece and entered through Ellis Island.

We look forward to attending the conference again on Monday when Mr. Francis Fungsang will join us for tabling.
