1st Annual Lake County Small Business Expo

On Friday, June 3rd, we spent the day tabling for Margaret W. Wong and Associates at the 1st Annual Lake County Small Business Expo which was held at Lakeland Community College and was presented by the Eastern Lake County, Willoughby Western Lake County, and the Mentor Area Chambers of Commerce.

IMG_1721Throughout the day there were workshops dealing with such topics as effective networking, ways of improving customer service, steps businesses can take to attract outstanding talent, email and digital marketing, and alternative financing options for small businesses.

All told there were 42 vendors representing all types of businesses and organizations. We, ourselves, tabled between Deacon, Cardenas, & Ruple, LLC, Attorneys At Law and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio. Some of the others were KeyBank, Biltmore Construction, EPCO Energy Planners, Chick-fil-A, Permanent Solution Staffing, and Global Real Estate Advisors.

All through the day, we talked to interesting people including:

***Mr. Ken Stauffer, President of Stauffer Technologies (Creative Voice & Network Solutions) who, at one point, worked with a programmer who had immigrated to the United States from Russia and, subsequently, made use of the services of Margaret W. Wong and Associates.

***Mr. Timothy J. Ensch, Labor Relations Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration, who has attended several of "food passport adventures" organized by Mr. Dan Hanson and Ms. Debbie Hanson of Clevelandpeople.com that we have also attended including the one at the Lithuanian American Citizens Club on East 185th Street several months ago. It goes without saying that Mr. Ensch and ourselves look forward to participating in more of them.

***Mr. Gary Caluducan, Financial Representative from Western & Southern Life who immigrated to the United States from Toronto in 1992 when he was quite young. We had seen Mr. Caluducan at other events so he mentioned us to his mother and learned that Margaret

***Mr. Raymond C. Somich, President of Spirit Media, who told us that he is an associate of Mr. Ratanjit S. Sondhe, Founder and CEO of DiscoverHelp, who is a good friend of ours too. Mr. Somich has thus seen and talked to Ms. Margaret W. Wong at several functions over the years.

Among the other conversations that we had were with people who had friends from Nigeria and India that might, at some time, need our help. On top of that, we met a person who immigrated to the United States from Europe in the early 1970's and has decided that he/she has put off becoming a U.S. citizen long enough so we put him/her in touch with our office.

And then there was a person who worked for a personalized clothing company who told us that she admired our burgundy golf shirt that has "Margaret W. Wong & Associates" embroidered on it in gold stitching. She said if we ever needed another one, just let her know!!!
