New Work Permit Lifeline for Undocumented Crime Victims Waiting for U-Visas

Usually when you file for a U-Visa ( for victims of certain crimes), you’ll need to wait in line for 5-6 years before securing authorization to work.

Last week, the White House announced that people waiting for U-visas will have their applications preliminarily reviewed, and if the applications are deemed “bona fide,” they will receive work permits and protection from deportation while they wait for final approval on their visas.
