C.A.M.E.O. Meeting in Westlake

On Wednesday, March 9th, we attended the March meeting of C.A.M.E.O. (aka Cleveland American Middle East Organization) that took place at Syriana Mediterranean Cuisine on Center Ridge Road in Westlake.

Many local political leaders and judges attended, including Mayor Dennis Clough of Westlake, to show their sincere support for our Middle Eastern community.

Also in attendance was former Mayor John Cranley of Cincinnati (2013 to 2022) who is a candidate for Governor of Ohio this year running in the democratic primary.

Mayor Cranley spoke for a few minutes and emphasized his ongoing commitment to providing constructive assistance to the foreign-born.

In fact, it was during his tenure as mayor, that the Cincinnati Compass website was launched which is an online portal that contains over one hundred resources for internationals new to the area.

Along these lines, Mayor Cranley is married to a woman who immigrated to the United States from Jordan and has many relatives now living in the Cincinnati neighborhood.

What’s more, accompanied by his wife who is fluently bilingual, Mayor Cranley has visited Jordan several times and has developed a genuine affinity for “the lands of the Bible.”
