Plexus Fun and Networking At Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar

The notice that we received about the Plexus  gathering that took place on Tuesday evening, April 3rd, advertised it as an evening of "fun and networking" which was exactly what it proved to be.

This event took place at "Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar" on Medina Road in Akron and was attended by some 75 people including Mr. Chip Clupper, HR Deputy Director for Ms. Ilene Shapiro, the Summit County Executive as well as representatives from the office of Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan.

In addition, we were pleased that Mr. Mathias Detamore was there representing our friend former U.S. Congressperson Dennis J. Kucinich's gubernatorial campaign.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Ms. Kimberly Braver from "The Westfield Group" which sponsored this affair and Mr. Brian Lamoda, the Private Dining Director of "Fleming's..." who arranged for Plexus to make use of the restaurant.

Other people who we chatted with included Mr. Matt Wiederhold who recognized us from when we attended the International Festival in Medina and Ms. Anna Adelman who we met previously at a "Morning Buzz" put on by the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce.

We had a long talk with Ms. Kaitlyn Price, Residence Life Coordinator for Housing for the University of Akron about praiseworthy policies concerning sexual harassment in student housing.

When we met Ms. Quin Aw, we told her that we worked for "Margaret W. Wong and Associates" and it turned out that our Mr. Francis Fungsang helped Ms. Aw obtain her green card back in 2013 and her U.S. citizenship in 2017. She initially immigrated to the United States from Malaysia in 1992 and moved to Akron in 2000.

In his brief remarks, Mr. James Garofalo, President of the Board of the Plexus Foundation mentioned that this was the second event that Plexus has hosted in the Akron area and more would definitely be planned because this outing and the one which took place last fall at "Bricco", another local restaurant, were such resounding successes.

In fact, Mr. Lamoda told us that he attended the "Bricco" networking event and that he liked it so much that he was determined that the next one be held at "Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar" where he worked. We are tempted to write that Mr. Lamoda's perseverance paid off but this would not be true because arrangements were made without any difficulty at all.

But we still want to thank Mr. Lamoda for having us all over for a beautiful evening.
