Eastern Lake County Coffee Contacts
On Wednesday, July 26th, we got up early to drive for almost an hour to attend an Eastern Lake County Coffee Contacts whose locale was an establishment that we had not heard of before called the "Driftwood Point Beach Bar and Grill" on Lake Road West in Geneva. Upon arrival, we realized that we were in for an unexpected treat because it was a beautiful morning and Coffee Contacts would take place on the restaurant's patio overlooking the Lake Erie.
As is usually the case at these happenings, all of the attendees got to give a 30 second commercial about the businesses that we either owned or represented and one of the guests there was Mr. Dustin Russell, Northeast Regional Liaison for Governor John Kasich. Mr. Russell was very accessible and listened attentively to several people who wanted to share with him their concerns about the goings-on in Ohio.
Although we already knew most of the people there, we had never met owners of the "Driftwood Point Beach Bar and Grill" who were Mr. Dave Osborn and his wife, now retired Professor Lois Osborn who taught English at Tri-C for years. We visited with them for a couple of minutes and learned that Professor Osborn once shared an office at the Parma campus with our good friend, Dr. Susan Lohwater who coordinates the international "Culture Shock" festival that we always table at every Spring.
We soon found out that Mr. Osborn, who owns a local roofing and construction company, and Dr. Osborn bought the "Driftwood Point Beach Bar and Grill" back in 2008 and spent a couple of years refurbishing it before it finally opened in 2010. It is strictly a summer establishment offering food, drink and entertainment on weekends from Memorial Day until September when it closes as do many of the local establishments. The ambiance was comfortable and intimate so we can't wait to return there for a meal; after all, included on their menu is a "Red Quinoa Burger" which is vegan and sounds perfect for us.
