Councilperson Marx Fundraiser
On Tuesday night we went to the BottleHouse Brewery on Madison Avenue in Lakewood to attend a fundraiser for our friend Councilperson Cindy Marx who is running for re-election as a Lakewood Councilperson-at-Large representing the entire city.
Councilperson Marx was introduced by Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers who praised her for building connections and bridges with people and organizations in the region who can be of assistance to each other. He also said that Councilperson Marx was a "deep thinker" with "passionate convictions" who cares a lot about people and the Lakewood community.
Councilperson Marx said that it is very rewarding for her when she is able to make a difference in people's lives and that she made it a priority to genuinely listen to people, appreciate where they are coming from, and understand their concerns. What's more she loves Lakewood and in the future looked forward to seeing "more bikes on the road, people on the street, and parks in the community" just as we do.
We, ourselves, especially admire Councilperson Marx for her commitment to helping immigrants and refugees settling both in Lakewood and in the Cleveland area. In fact, on her lawn there is a sign that reads "No matter where you are from, we're glad you're our neighbor" in Spanish and Arabic as well as in English.
