St. Brigid Day Breakfast at St. Patrick's Church

On Sunday, January 22nd, our only event was the St. Brigid Day Breakfast organized by the Our Lady of Rosary Division of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians which took place at St. Patrick's Church on Rocky River Drive near Kamm's Corner.

We didn't know this before but we learned that January 22nd is actually the start of the St. Patrick's Day season which will last until March 18th the day after St. Patrick's Day.

Accordingly, this occasion was used to introduce those who will play important roles in this year's proceedings who were Ms. Maire Kilbane Leffel (Hibernian of the Year); Mr. Roger Weist (Parade Grand Marshall); Ms. Mary Angela Murphy (Irish Mother of the Year) and Mr. John Lackey and Ms. Margaret Lynch (Parade Co-Chairs).

All but Mr. Lackey were present and all received loving introductions and warm applause from the attendees after each of them said a few words.

Ms. Sheila Crawford acted as emcee and when it came time to acknowledge special guests she recognized us as representatives of Margaret W. Wong and Associates.

We didn't know much about St. Brigid so we looked her up on Wikipedia and learned she was born in the 400's and learned that she is "credited with organizing communal consecrated religious life for women in Ireland."

Ms. Crawford said that St. Brigid is "quite an inspiration for us all" due to her accomplishments and a "role model for faith."

She also expressed how much she and those honored at the breakfast were looking forward to St. Patrick's Day and all of the festivities preceding it when she said, "we're going to have a wonderful time celebrating with you."
