Annual Hanukkah Candlelighting at the Maltz Museum
On Wednesday evening, December 28th, we attended the annual Hanukkah Candlelighting at the Maltz Museum in Beachwood.
Ms. Elle Goldstein from Friends of the Maltz Museum organized a very family-oriented event that included crafts, snacks, a treasure hunt, and a sing-a-long of Hanukkah songs lead by Ms. Lisa Martel (violin) and Cantor Kathy Sebo (keyboard).
It was the 5th night of Hanukkah so Cantor Sebo enlisted the help of a young volunteer to properly light the candles.
Later Ms. Michelle Stern gathered the youngsters (as well as a few of us grown-ups) together to explain the origins of this cherished annual celebration.
For us, it was neat to once again encounter Ms. Marsha and Ms. Courtney Krieger who we had talked to the previous day at Menorah Park and our good friend Mr. Jeffrey Allen walked across the room (holding one of his small children) to bid us hello.
Mr. Victor Goodman, President of the Friends of the Maltz Museum, believed that the turnout for this gathering was "overflowing" and attributed it to either more children or grandchildren being born or more people finding out about it which was the case with us. At any rate, he was quite pleased and contended that "we're getting bigger and better!"
