Elena Albamonte is an immigration attorney specializing in removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, and other matters before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) as well as affirmative asylum applications before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Ms. Albamonte previously worked as an immigration attorney for the federal government for more than 30 years at the U.S. Departments of State, Justice, and Homeland Security. Her experience includes 20 years as an attorney advisor at the Board of Immigration Appeals and more than 3 years as the Deputy Chief Counsel for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Ms. Albamonte retired from the federal service after 37 years and opened her own immigration law practice in Americus, Georgia, where she represented noncitizens in immigration bond and removal proceedings. She also represented noncitizens in immigration appeals, family based immigration, and employment based immigration applications.
Ms. Albamonte’s work with noncitizens detained at the Stewart Detention Center was featured in the Washington Post.
Ms. Albamonte is admitted to practice in Georgia and works at the firm’s Atlanta office.
