Marisela J. Marquez (Chela) is an associate at Margaret W. Wong & Associates, LLC. She is an attorney at the law firm’s Minneapolis, MN office. She handles all types of immigration matters and specializes in asylum, removal defense, family-based immigration, O visas, EB1 and EB2 cases. Prior to opening the law firm’s Minneapolis office, Ms. Marquez worked in the firm’s Cleveland, Ohio, headquarters for several years while her husband completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic. Ms. Marquez obtained her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. While in law school, she competed on the Rosalie E. Wahl Moot Court team and received the Minnesota Justice Foundation Public Interest Law Fellowship. As a student certified attorney, she clerked for a criminal defense agency.
Upon graduation, she gained valuable experience as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable John T. Finley of Minnesota's Second Judicial District. She then accepted an associate position at a civil litigation firm in Minneapolis with a focus on workers' compensation litigation.
She graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in psychology and a music minor. She received the Presidential Scholarship and was named Fuchs Scholar for musical performance.
Ms. Marquez lives in Minneapolis with her husband, son, and two rambunctious dogs. She enjoys playing piano, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
