William On Low, 1950 to 2026

Our attorney, William On Low, died a few weeks ago after an extended illness. We will miss William. He was a kind and gentle man, and a tenacious and fierce attorney.

Born in 1950, William grew up in California. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, William served in the United States military, serving in the Vietnam theater (though not in Vietnam). One thing that led to William being a fierce person was survival in the military: an Asian American in the US Military while the US Military was fighting Asians led to William suffering constant racist humiliation and violence from his fellow soldiers based solely on the fact that he resembled the enemy combatants.

After leaving the military, William worked various jobs. Boxing was his favorite sport. His growing desire to help others led to him attend law school late in life. He graduated from Hofstra University School of Law, in Hempstead, New York, in 1998, at the age of 48. William passed the New York bar in 2000. He worked in several law firms, discovering the immigration law practice of Margaret W. Wong & Associates in 2011.

Throughout his life, William was a devout Christian, and in New York City, he worshipped at the True Light Lutheran Church in Manhattan, “a welcoming, worshiping, multilingual community.” The name of the church comes from the Bible passage, John 1:9: “The true light, Jesus, gives light to everyone” 這光是真光, 來到這世界照亮每個人

True Light Pastor, the Rev Dr Joshua Hollmann said, “William was a beloved member of our church and will be missed.”

The Margaret W. Wong & Associates immigration law firm has received more than 1,000 Five Star Google reviews, in which clients describe, in Chinese, Spanish, and English, how the members of the law firm helped them over the years. William was personally thanked in many of the Google reviews, and four pages of reviews thanking William were presented at William’s celebration of life, on Friday, July 17, 2026. William’s family was so moved by the Google Thank You’s, they tucked a copy next to William’s body in the casket, to accompany him into eternity.

These Google Thank You’s underscore William’s devotion to his clients, and his desire to protect their rights under the United States Constitution.

We will never forget you, William. Rest in peace!
