2026 Polish Constitution Day Parade & Festival in Parma Celebrates Heritage and Community

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, we were proud to participate in the annual Polish Constitution Day Parade and Festival in Parma, Ohio, held near the intersection of Ridge Road and Snow Road. This beloved community event continues to highlight the rich Polish heritage found throughout the Greater Cleveland area.

The 2026 celebration marked the 76th annual Polish Constitution Day Parade in Greater Cleveland, a tradition dating back to the 1940s. It also represented the 13th consecutive year the event has been hosted in Parma since relocating there in 2013.

The parade began at Parma Circle and proceeded along Ridge Road, drawing residents, local leaders, and visitors together in celebration. Following the parade, attendees gathered at the Polish Village Festival, where they enjoyed cultural exhibits, traditional food, music, and community fellowship that honor the legacy of Polish immigrants who settled in Parma and surrounding Northeast Ohio communities.

The Historical Significance of Polish Constitution Day

Polish Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of Poland’s Constitution on May 3, 1791. This landmark document, formally known as the Government Act, was passed by the Polish Sejm (Parliament). At the time, it was the second modern constitution in the world, following only the United States Constitution.

Recognized as the first modern constitution in Europe, it remains a symbol of democratic progress and national pride. In 2015, it was further honored with the European Heritage Label by the European Commission.

Community Voices and Local Impact

Before the festivities began, we spoke with Parma City Councilperson Kevin Kussmaul about the importance of the event. He emphasized Parma’s deep-rooted connection to Polish immigrants and their descendants.

According to Councilperson Kussmaul, many residents of Polish heritage eagerly anticipate this annual celebration, which serves as a meaningful opportunity to showcase their history, traditions, and cultural identity.

A Lasting Tradition in Parma, Ohio

The Polish Constitution Day Parade and Festival continues to be one of the most anticipated cultural events in Parma and the Greater Cleveland area. It not only celebrates Polish history but also strengthens community ties and preserves traditions for future generations.
