Margaret W. Wong & Associates Supports Cleveland Rape Crisis Center at Inaugural “State of the CRCC” Event.

Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC has proudly supported the important work of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC) for many years. We were honored to attend the organization’s inaugural “State of the CRCC” event on Thursday afternoon, March 5, held at the Pivot Center for Art, Dance and Expression in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood.
The gathering took place in the Inlet Dance Studio at the Pivot Center on West 25th Street and brought together community leaders, supporters, and advocates committed to supporting survivors of sexual violence throughout Northeast Ohio.
Honoring Progress and Expanding Survivor Support
According to the invitation, the event was designed to celebrate the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s recent achievements, discuss opportunities for growth, and share plans to expand survivor support and healing services across the region.
The CRCC’s impact is substantial. Each year, the Center serves more than 46,500 individuals across Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake counties, providing crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and prevention education to those affected by sexual violence.
Event Highlights and Leadership Insights
The event program featured:
-
Short documentary films in which survivors of sexual assault courageously shared their stories
-
A keynote address from CRCC President and CEO Nicole McKinney‑Johnson
-
A leadership discussion moderated by McKinney-Johnson with board leaders Elizabeth “Lisa” Radigan and Dana Langford, who chair the Executive Committee of the CRCC Board of Directors
The discussion highlighted several critical priorities for the organization and the broader community.
Key Priorities for Supporting Survivors in Northeast Ohio
Several important themes emerged during the program:
Culturally sensitive care
Providing trauma-informed services that respect cultural backgrounds and language needs is essential to supporting survivors effectively.
Prevention education
Educational programs remain a vital tool in preventing sexual violence and raising awareness within communities.
Community partnership and advocacy
Organizations, businesses, and residents across Northeast Ohio can strengthen CRCC’s mission through moral support, financial contributions, and coordinated community engagement.
Supporting CRCC staff
Staff members work in emotionally demanding roles while supporting survivors through deeply traumatic experiences. Recognizing and supporting these professionals is essential.
Comprehensive survivor recovery pathways
The CRCC continues to enhance its holistic approach to recovery, guiding survivors through medical, legal, psychological, and financial processes.
Expanding Services for Immigrant and International Communities
As an immigration law firm serving diverse communities, Margaret W. Wong & Associates particularly appreciates CRCC’s commitment to culturally responsive outreach. The organization has expanded efforts to support individuals from Hispanic, Latino, and Asian communities, including immigrants, refugees, and international residents in Northeast Ohio.
These initiatives help ensure that survivors from all backgrounds can access the care, advocacy, and resources they need.
Glenville Human Trafficking Drop-In Center
During the event, we also learned more about the Glenville Human Trafficking Drop-In Center, a program operated by the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
Established in 2021, the center provides a safe haven and essential services for survivors of human trafficking. It is the first facility of its kind in Northeast Ohio and has already helped many women from diverse cultural backgrounds begin their path toward recovery.
Inside the facility, a striking mural celebrates the strength of the surrounding community. Near the entrance, a plaque captures the center’s mission with a powerful message:
“This building is dedicated to survivors and their journeys.”
Continuing Our Commitment to Community Support
At Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC, we recognize that organizations like the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center play a vital role in protecting and healing our communities. We remain proud to support the CRCC’s mission to provide advocacy, healing services, and prevention education for survivors of sexual violence throughout Northeast Ohio.
