Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Recap: Japan’s Impact on Ohio
On Friday, December 5th, we attended the 20th Annual International Chamber of Commerce Christmas Luncheon at Windows on the River. The British-American Chamber of Commerce Ohio (BACC) hosted the gathering and welcomed Hajime “Jimmy” Kishimori, the Consul General of Japan in Detroit, as the Keynote Speaker.
Chamber Strengthening Economic Ties
His address focused on “How Japan and Japanese Companies Are Impacting Ohio.” Before the event, we reviewed a letter from Consul General Kishimori on the website of the Consulate-General of Japan in Detroit. The message highlighted the strong presence of Japanese companies in Michigan and Ohio and their long record of creating jobs and driving industrial growth. He also reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to supporting these companies and strengthening economic ties with both states.
Chamber of Commerce Building Cultural and Business Connections
The Consul General also emphasized the value of people-to-people connections. Cultural programs, sister-city partnerships, and arts initiatives, he wrote, help build lasting friendships between Japan and the United States. These efforts deepen mutual understanding and promote long-term cooperation.
The International Chamber of Commerce brings together several global business groups, including the Greater Cleveland Chinese Chamber, the Swedish-American Chamber, and the French-American Chamber. Another key partner, the Collaborative Chambers Alliance, unites many local and regional organizations.
Members of these chambers include many enterprising immigrants who came to the United States to pursue opportunity while giving back to their communities. Their work strengthens Cleveland’s international business network and creates new pathways for global collaboration.
