Run for Re-Entry: Margaret Wong & Associates Joins EDWINS 10th Annual Event
On Sunday, October 19, our team hit the ground running at the 10th Annual EDWINS Run for Re-Entry, hosted at EDWINS Restaurant’s new Cedar Road location in Cleveland Heights. This inspiring event combined fitness, community, and a powerful mission.
We stretched out and walked the 5K Grind—one of two courses offered. The second, the One Mile Fun Run and Walk, attracted all kinds of participants, including our colleague and seasoned runner, Mr. Francis Fungsang, who made a strong showing.
Why We Participated
Daily walks and stationary bike rides made the 5K a natural fit for us. But this event was about more than a physical challenge—it was about supporting second chances. Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC proudly joined as a Sprinter Sponsor to back the EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute. EDWINS helps formerly incarcerated adults rebuild their lives through hands-on culinary and hospitality training, plus the support they need for long-term success.
Community, Culture, and Global Connections
Immigration wasn’t the main focus that morning, but it was part of the experience. We met international participants—including Rev, an engaging runner from India—on the scenic, hilly Doan Creek course. Later, an EDWINS chef instructor shared that many signature recipes, especially in the bakery and butcher shop, trace back to immigrant and refugee communities worldwide. These traditions now thrive in Cleveland.
What We Took Away
We left energized, inspired, and proud to support a cause that aligns with our values: second chances, skill-building, and community reintegration. We look forward to lacing up again next year—see you at the starting line!
