Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC was one of the sponsors for a Midtown Cleveland mixer appropriately titled “This is My Neighborhood” that took place at YYTime on Payne Avenue, a delicious Chinese restaurant.
Midtown Cleveland’s vicinity includes the Cleveland office of Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC on Chester Avenue and is also home to many people who have immigrated to the United States from the Asian countries as well as Central and South America.
Accordingly, Midtown Cleveland is a CDC making it “the sole organization charged with leveraging the neighborhood’s diverse assets to develop a dynamic place that unites the city’s downtown and innovation districts.”
As such, it “provides services to Midtown’s members, stakeholders, businesses and organizations, residents and visitors.
All told, we really respect Midtown’s vision which is that of “a connected community in the center of it all, an inclusive place for people to innovate, create, prosper, and live.”
(see https://midtown.org/about/)
What’s more, we also certainly embrace its values which include belonging, collaboration, connectivity, intentionality, transparency, and racial equity.
We are happy to report that the mixer had approximately 182 rsvp’s and YYTime was quite crowded but in a fun way.”
Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC was happily one of the many sponsors of the 2025 “Traditions of Peru” Dinner and Gala that took place on Saturday evening, April 12th, at the Tremont City Side Ballroom.
This splendid affair was put on by the Peruvian Cultural Association of Northeast Ohio aka PERUCAN-OH which is “a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Peru through education projects and cultural events.”
As we read on its website, PERUCAN-OH strives “to strengthen our region by providing a sense of community and understanding between Peruvian Americans and our local communities while serving, supporting, and advocating” for those who have immigrated to the United States from Peru and live in the region of Northeast Ohio.
(see https://www.perucan-oh.org/about-us/)
For us, one of the highlight of the evening was the awards given to our friends Victor Ruiz and Luis Cartagena for their service and contributions to our local Hispanic community in a multitude of capacities.
(see https://www.portofcleveland.com/porto/10/luis-cartagena/) and (see https://esperanzainc.org/celebrating-victor-ruiz-at-cavaliers-unidos-por-cleveland-night/)
To be sure, there was also ambiance-appropriate music provided by Luka y Su Ropa Viejo, a Latin music band, and several stunning dance numbers performed by the Raices del Peru Dance Ensemble.
We learned that the main purposes of the Gala was to raise some of the necessary funding for the construction of a Peruvian Cultural Garden that will be created in several phases according to Mr. Roberto Pineda, Architect with onyx/creative, who has devoted many hours to this project.
Along these lines, the planned Peruvian Cultural Garden was described in the PERUCAN-OH literature as being located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between the African American and Ukrainian Cultural Gardens.
The description went on to read that “the Peruvian Cultural Garden will offer visitors an inviting space to immerse themselves in Peru’s rich history, culture, architecture and traditions. The garden will feature design elements inspired by the Machu Inca Sanctuary, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the iconic Nazca Lines among others, providing a unique educational experience. It will also serve as a platform to highlight the talents and contributions of the world-renowned Peruvian writers, musicians, artists and craftsmen.”
(see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machu_Picchu/) and (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_lines/)
Certainly, we believe that this garden will be an excellent additional to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens network and we are committed to following its progress.
