Midtown Cleveland Community Events and Local Engagement
Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC was one of the sponsors of a Midtown Cleveland mixer titled “This Is My Neighborhood.” The event took place at YYTime on Payne Avenue, a popular Chinese restaurant known for its cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.
Midtown Cleveland includes our Cleveland office on Chester Avenue. It is also home to many residents who immigrated to the United States from Asia, Central America, and South America.
Midtown Cleveland’s Mission and Role
Midtown Cleveland operates as a Community Development Corporation (CDC). As such, it is “the sole organization charged with leveraging the neighborhood’s diverse assets to develop a dynamic place that unites the city’s downtown and innovation districts.”
As part of that mission, Midtown “provides services to Midtown’s members, stakeholders, businesses and organizations, residents and visitors.”

Supporting Cultural Celebrations in Midtown Cleveland Community Events
In addition to supporting Midtown Cleveland community events, Margaret W. Wong & Associates LLC was proud to sponsor the 2025 “Traditions of Peru” Dinner and Gala. The event took place on Saturday evening, April 12, at the Tremont City Side Ballroom.
The Peruvian Cultural Association of Northeast Ohio, also known as PERUCAN‑OH, organized the event. The organization is “a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Peru through education projects and cultural events.”
According to PERUCAN‑OH, its mission is to “strengthen our region by providing a sense of community and understanding between Peruvian Americans and our local communities.” In addition, the organization works to serve, support, and advocate for individuals who immigrated to the United States from Peru and now live in Northeast Ohio.

Honoring Community Leadership
One of the highlights of the evening was the recognition of Victor Ruiz and Luis Cartagena for their service and contributions to the local Hispanic community. Their work spans multiple initiatives that have strengthened civic engagement and community development throughout the region.

Peruvian Cultural Garden and Future Plans
The gala also helped raise funds for a planned Peruvian Cultural Garden, which the project team will build in phases. According to Mr. Roberto Pineda, architect with onyx/creative, the garden will be located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between the African American and Ukrainian Cultural Gardens.
PERUCAN‑OH materials describe the site as an immersive space inspired by the Machu Picchu Sanctuary and the Nazca Lines, offering visitors insight into Peru’s history, culture, and artistic traditions. Learn more about these inspirations at:
