2024: Holiday Letter and Thank You from Margaret W. Wong

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve traveled over the past year. There is so much I wish to share—from the joys of my growing family to the profound love I’ve found in my grandchildren and the seemingly unbreakable bond we share. My ever-expanding law practice continues to challenge and inspire me, but above all, I am awed by the tides of change in immigration perceptions and policies.

My children, Steven and Allison, along with their spouses, have settled in New York City and North Carolina, respectively. My grandchildren—CJ, Lucy, Laurel, and Hannah—are boundless sources of energy and joy. In their eyes, I see reflections of my parents, Kam, and myself. Never would I have imagined that the highlights of my visits would include reading bedtime stories, tucking them in, or early mornings spent huddled under warm blankets watching cartoons together. These simple moments have enriched my life in ways I could never have anticipated.

On the professional front, calls to our seven offices across the country for immigration help, advice, and consultations have increased exponentially. Together, my legal team and I have initiated thousands of conversations—from federal litigations and talent visas to employment authorizations and reversing deportations. Yet, the heartbreaking reality remains: the wait for some quota openings spans 15–20 years, making immigration dreams feel almost unattainable for many.

In moments of difficulty, I often draw strength from the resilience of my parents. My mother, a visionary woman ahead of her time, guided her family through war-torn China to safety in Hong Kong, where she, together with my father, built a new life. A graduate of one of China’s most prestigious universities and a trailblazing journalist, she would always say, “Never give up. As long as there are green mountains, you’ll never lack firewood.” Her words remind me, and my clients, that perseverance is key.

To my partners, associates, and hardworking staff across the country—thank you for your tireless efforts. You have brought hope and joy to countless lives. As we close the year, I raise a toast to your dedication, to our shared successes, and to continuing this mission in the years ahead.

To all my friends, let the coming year be one of reconnection and cherished memories. May 2025 bring happiness, success, and all the magic life has to offer.

Warmest regards,

Margaret Wong
