On Tuesday July 30th, Vice President Harris’s campaign released a new video criticizing former President Trump over the U.S. southern border in response to a Trump ad targeting Harris on immigration.
The video highlights Harris’s plans to increase border patrol agents, invest in technology to block fentanyl, and fund efforts to stop human traffickers, contrasting it with Trump’s opposition to bipartisan legislation on these issues.
“There are two choices in this election: one who will fix our broken immigration system and one who’s trying to stop her,” the video states.
The video also mentions Harris’s record of prosecuting transnational gang members, comparing it to Trump’s legal challenges.
Earlier that day, Trump’s campaign released an ad on immigration, a key issue this election cycle, labeling Harris as the Biden administration’s “border czar” due to her work on migration causes in the Northern Triangle region.
“After blocking the toughest border deal in decades, Donald Trump is running on his trademark lies because his record and plans are extreme and unpopular. As a former district attorney, attorney general, and now vice president, Kamala Harris has spent her career prosecuting violent criminals and making our communities safer. She’ll do the same as president,” Harris spokesperson Ammar Moussa stated.
Harris and President Biden have criticized Trump and the GOP for blocking the bipartisan border bill in the Senate twice, with Trump urging Republicans to oppose the legislation to prevent giving President Biden an election-year victory.
