USCIS myProgress Expansion Adds Forms I‑485 and I‑821

USCIS myProgress Expansion Announcement

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the expansion of myProgress, formerly known as personalized processing times. The USCIS myProgress expansion now includes Form I‑821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, and Form I‑485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Initially, myProgress is available only to family‑based or Afghan special immigrant I‑485 applicants.

Purpose and Function of myProgress

The myProgress feature provides applicants with personalized access through their USCIS online accounts. It allows users to view estimated wait times for major milestones and actions related to their case. These milestones include progress updates and the final case decision.

The estimates rely on case type and historical data. However, they do not represent exact timelines. They also may not reflect all factors that affect individual application processing.

Customer Experience and Policy Goals

The introduction of myProgress supports USCIS’ commitment to improving the customer experience. Specifically, it addresses applicant concerns regarding case status during the waiting period for a decision. This effort aligns with Executive Order 14058 on Transforming Federal Customer Experience and Service Delivery to Rebuild Trust in Government Mandates.

In addition, the USCIS myProgress expansion supports the agency’s Strategic Plan. It aims to reduce case status inquiries while improving transparency in the adjudication process. As a result, applicants receive clearer insight into how their applications progress.

Forms Supported by myProgress

In addition to Forms I‑485 and I‑821, myProgress is available to applicants with a USCIS online account who file:

  • Form I‑765, Application for Employment Authorization
  • Form I‑131, Application for Travel Document
  • Form N‑400, Application for Naturalization
  • Form I‑90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card
  • Form I‑130, Petition for Alien Relative

How Applicants Can Access myProgress

To access myProgress, applicants must create or log into their USCIS online account. They must then select their pending application. If the application was filed online or linked using an online access code, a myProgress tab will appear.

This tab shows the estimated wait time until a decision is issued. It also displays checkmarks as applicants reach these milestones:

  • Confirmation of application receipt
  • Progress through preprocessing and adjudicative steps
  • Final case decision

Additional Processing Time Resources

While myProgress provides streamlined access to estimates, applicants may still use the public Check Case Processing Times webpage. That resource helps determine eligibility for filing an Outside of Normal Processing Times service request.
