Family Reunification Parole Invitations Begin for Four Countries
Family Reunification Parole Invitations Begin for Four Countries
The Family Reunification Parole process expanded on July 31, 2023, when the National Visa Center began issuing invitations. This update offers eligible families from Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras a clearer path toward reunification.
Who Qualifies for These Invitations
The Department of Homeland Security announced the new processes on July 7, 2023. Under this program, petitioners with an approved Form I‑130 for a qualifying relative may receive an invitation. Eligible beneficiaries can request parole for up to three years while they wait to apply for permanent residence. During that period, they may also apply for work authorization.
This expansion strengthens the Family Reunification Parole pathway and supports family unity.
Requirements Applicants Must Meet
Applicants must remain outside the United States and complete all screening, vetting, and medical steps. They also must not hold an immigrant visa. USCIS reviews each request individually and grants parole only for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.
Why DHS Expanded These Pathways
Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas emphasized the importance of lawful, orderly migration. He noted that expanding legal pathways, combined with strong enforcement, reduces dangerous irregular migration. His statement highlights the administration’s commitment to safer options for families.
How Invitations Are Distributed
USCIS sends invitations by mail or email to the petitioner. Each notice lists the family members eligible for consideration. Invitations are issued on a rolling basis, guided by operational capacity and the expected wait time for the principal beneficiary’s immigrant visa. This approach helps maintain fairness and process integrity.
Additionally, USCIS announced that more information about the Family Reunification Parole programs for Cuba and Haiti will be released soon. If you need guidance on the Family Reunification Parole process, contact our team so they can help you understand your options and move forward confidently.
