Supporting St. Dominic School Shaker Heights
Our immigration attorney and law firm partner, Francis Fungsang, recently participated in a golf outing benefiting St. Dominic School Shaker Heights. The event brought together community members to support a school known for academic excellence and strong values. A Strong Educational Foundation Since 1950
Founded in 1950, St. Dominic School serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade. The school maintains a 9‑to‑1 student‑teacher ratio, allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful engagement.
St. Dominic follows the curriculum guidelines of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland. These standards align with, and often exceed, both the Common Core State Standards and Ohio’s academic benchmarks.
STREAM Education Enhances Student Learning
For the past five years, St. Dominic has expanded its STREAM program. STREAM integrates Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The school’s STREAM project lab gives students a collaborative space to explore new ideas and develop critical thinking skills.
This approach strengthens content literacy and prepares students for future academic challenges.
Accelerated Learning and Individual Support
St. Dominic School adapts instruction as students show readiness for advanced material. Teachers introduce new subjects at an accelerated pace while offering additional support to students who need it.
Technology plays a key role in the classroom. Students use iPads, Chromebooks, and other tools to enhance learning. The curriculum includes Language Arts, Mathematics, Religion, Science, Social Studies, Art, Technology, Library, Music, Health, Physical Education, and Spanish.
The school also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. St. Dominic has a student band and competitive athletic programs. Students compete as the Bulldogs in soccer, football, lacrosse, basketball, track, baseball, and cross‑country running.
These programs help students build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.
A Day on the Course for a Good Cause
Francis joined other golfers in a shotgun start, playing four‑ball, best‑ball format. The structure allowed every player to contribute to the team’s performance. While Francis kept his score a secret, the outing succeeded in supporting St. Dominic School Shaker Heights and its mission.
