Jewish Discovery Center Lakewood Grand Opening

Celebrating the Opening of the Jewish Discovery Center Lakewood

On Wednesday, December 15th, we attended the grand opening of the Jewish Discovery Center Lakewood on Madison Avenue. This historic event marked the first official Jewish space in Lakewood’s history.

The Center was established as part of the Chabad movement. Rabbi Mendel Jacobs and his wife, Devora, explained that Torah classes will be taught at the Center. However, its mission goes beyond religious education. It will serve as a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of faith.

A Place for Community and Wellness

Furthermore, the Center will host yoga classes, family-friendly activities like Mommy and Me, and provide services for those in need. This inclusive approach reflects its goal of being a true community hub.

In addition, instrumental in founding the Center were Ms. Mariely Luengo and Ms. Laura Kerns, who now serves as project manager. Lakewood Mayor Meghan George led the ribbon-cutting ceremony. She expressed excitement about the Center, calling it long overdue and pledging to partner with its leaders.

Words of Inspiration

Moreover, Ohio State Senator Nickie Antonio sent a proclamation praising the effort. It read, in part: “This dedication convincingly demonstrates how very much can be accomplished by a group of conscientious people with clear objectives and firm resolve.”

The Jewish Discovery Center Lakewood is more than a building—it is a symbol of inclusion, faith, and community growth.
