Immigration Support Services at Community Events
On Thursday evening, December 16th, we attended three events on our way home after working all day for [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″]. These events highlighted community engagement and the importance of immigration support services in our region.
H2: Fundraiser for Judicial Candidate
The first event was a fundraiser at Burntwood Tavern in Rocky River for Ms. Denise Joan Salerno, who will run for Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge in 2022. Ms. Salerno, a Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney since 2008, shared her experience with cases involving immigrants from Hispanic, Asian, and African countries. She emphasized transparency with immigrants and their legal representatives because convictions or guilty pleas can impact immigration status.
H2: Lakewood Democratic Club Holiday Party
Furthermore, we attended the Lakewood Democratic Club Holiday Party at BottleHouse Brewery. We connected with Mr. Erik Meinhart, club president and Development Associate at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, and other long-time members. Moreover, the discussion reinforced the need for constructive, comprehensive immigration reform and strong immigration support services for families navigating complex legal systems.
H2: Toys for Tots Holiday Event
Finally, we joined Zack Reed’s Holiday Party and Celebrity Fashion Show benefiting the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. We learned the program’s mission: “Through the gift of a new toy, help bring joy and hope to America’s less fortunate children.” We met Staff Sgt. Tyler Joss and Sgt. Claudia Guzman, who appreciated our donation and posed for a photo holding the check.
