Guests enjoyed vegetarian tamales prepared by Dona Leo while DJ Chevi Red kept the energy high. Midway through the night, the Parranderos—a Puerto Rican musical group—arrived in true holiday spirit. Saturday brought us to Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor for the Estonian Christmas Service. Pastor Peeter Pirn kindly reviewed the service with us afterward. Ms. Lembi Veskimets of the Cleveland Orchestra performed a stunning violin solo.
During lunch, we met Silva, who immigrated from Estonia as a refugee in 1951. She shared her story and expressed interest in immigration issues. Danish Christmas Party and Cultural Garden Celebration
Sunday began with the Danish Christmas Party at Tom’s Country Place in Avon. We sang carols in Danish and English and heard a touching story about a family’s immigration journey after WWI.
