Cleveland Cultural Gardens Event

The recent Cleveland Cultural Gardens event offered an evening of artistry, culture, and community connection. The program blended theatre, dance, and heritage in a welcoming outdoor setting.

Arrival at the Evening Program

We had a very busy day on Saturday, August 14th. It seemed unlikely we would reach the Centennial Peace Plaza by 6pm. The program, titled “A Trip to the British Isles,” was hosted by the British and Irish Cultural Gardens. At the last minute, we broke free and arrived by 6:30pm. We were late, but still in time to enjoy the performances.

Furthermore, members of Rubber City Theatre and Murphy Irish Arts Center delivered impressive work. Their performances added energy to the Cleveland Cultural Gardens event. Rubber City Theatre is Akron’s only year‑round professional Equity theatre. Ms. Katie Wells and Mr. Alex Funk presented scenes from “Othello,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” and “Macbeth.” Their delivery was polished, engaging, and skillfully paced.

Traditional Irish Dance Highlights

Young dancers soon followed with lively Irish pieces. They wore black and green outfits that enhanced their stage presence. They performed favorites such as the “Traditional Irish Jig” and “The Blackbird.” Our friend, Ms. Sheila Crawford, introduced each dance with helpful notes on style and history. Her commentary added context and smooth transitions between performances.

Familiar Faces in the Community

We were pleased to see several CCG supporters in attendance. Ms. Svetlana Stolyarova, Ms. Lori Ashyk, and Mr. Asim Datta were among the familiar faces. Their presence reflected the strong community spirit behind the Cleveland Cultural Gardens event. We had to leave after about 45 minutes. Even so, witnessing such artistry made the trip worthwhile. The evening offered culture, talent, and meaningful connection.
