Bishop’s Address Cleveland Highlights 2022
Highlights from the 62nd Annual Bishop’s Address in Cleveland
On Thursday, February 10th, we attended the 62nd annual Bishop’s Address Cleveland, hosted by the First Friday Club of Cleveland at Windows on the River in the Flats. This event brought together faith leaders, educators, and community members for an inspiring afternoon.
As a corporate sponsor, [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] was granted a full table, but we graciously allowed the First Friday Club staff to share most of the seats. This gave us the chance to meet several wonderful people, including Dr. J. Michael Pressimone, president of Notre Dame College since April 2020.
Key Themes from Bishop Malesic’s Address
This year’s address was delivered by the Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, the 12th Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland. His remarks focused on three important areas:
- The Synod on Synodality assembly scheduled for Rome in October 2023
- The Eucharistic revival
- The revitalization of Catholic elementary schools in Cleveland
The luncheon also featured a special moment when Bishop Roger Gries, OSB, former auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland, received the Heart of a Servant Award for his decades of dedicated service. The applause was heartfelt and well-deserved.
Commitment to Immigrant Support
Although immigration was not part of Bishop Malesic’s formal address, we spoke with Sister Rita Mary Harwood, who shared that Bishop Malesic strongly supports efforts to assist immigrants and refugees in Northeast Ohio. His commitment to inclusion and compassion reflects the values of the Diocese.
Events like the Bishop’s Address Cleveland remind us of the importance of faith, community, and service.
If you or someone you know needs help with immigration support, call us today. We’re here to assist.
