Women’s History Month Cleveland | Honoring Local Leaders

On Friday, March 25th, we attended a Women’s History Month Cleveland luncheon at the Cleveland Public Auditorium. The event was organized by the City of Cleveland and its Community Relations Board. It was proudly sponsored in part by [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″].

During the program, fifteen women who work for the City of Cleveland were honored. They were recognized for their contributions to their departments and to the city as a whole.

Furthermore, among the speakers were Mr. Grady Stevenson, Executive Director of the Community Relations Board; Ms. Sonya Pryor-Jones, Cleveland’s Chief of Youth and Family Success; and Mayor Justin Bibb. Each speaker emphasized the importance of women in leadership roles. They explained that organizations—public or private—cannot reach their full potential without women in key positions.

We were fortunate to share a table with Ms. Joan McGinty, one of the honorees. She worked for the Cleveland Fire Department for thirty-three years before retiring. During her career, Ms. McGinty served as both a firefighter and an arson detective.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Yvonne Pointer-McCrary. She shared a powerful parable about how women throughout history have risen to greatness when faced with adversity. Finally, Ms. Elizabeth Roman of the Community Relations Board presided over the event. She and her team planned and executed the luncheon flawlessly.
